The Random Driving Test

If you were offered €1,000, could you pass your driving test again… right now?

In The Random Driving Test, a roving host stops members of the public and asks them if they have a driving licence. If they say yes, he makes them a simple, irresistible offer: take a spontaneous driving test right now and, if you pass, you win €1,000. There are only two conditions — there’s no time to prepare, and every fault will cost you €100. Get more than nine faults, and you win nothing. And if even one of those faults turns out to have been serious, you also win nothing.

Even for experienced drivers it's a daunting proposition. Over time, bad habits develop and rules evolve without us paying attention. Have the contestants picked up lazy shortcuts? Do they still check mirrors properly, signal at the right moment, or stay within updated regulations they may barely remember?

As the test begins, every decision counts. For each minor fault, €100 is deducted from the prize pot. Hesitations, missed checks, poor positioning all add up. Major mistakes could cost them everything.

Under pressure, confidence quickly turns to doubt. Some drivers rediscover their discipline and stay composed, but others unravel, exposing just how far they’ve drifted from the standard they once passed.

Guided by the host’s playful authority, each test becomes a gripping, often hilarious story — blending tension, relatability, and real-world stakes.
